Hunter's Fight

My husbands cousin, Hunter, is a young man {14 years old} who loves his family and being a brother to an older and younger sister and one younger brother. He is very spirited and enjoys to play games and play jokes on people. At eighteen months old his Dr.'s diagnosed him with Cystic Fibrosis Pancreatitis, that causes him daily pain. He had to have a Total Pancreatectomy with Auto Islet Transplant, in short, that means a full day of surgeries. Check out his page on FaceBook to read more about his story.

Hunter and his mom have been in Minnesota for over a month while Hunter had surgery and has been recovering. It has been a long road to recover, others have come and gone for the same surgery, meanwhile, he has had multiple other surgeries do to complications. The surgery takes a year to recover and the family needs to raise money for medical expenses.

Hunters' family is at home in Utah doing what they can to help lift some of the financial burden for Hunters parents. Because we are in Connecticut we haven't been able to participate in the fundraiser dinners, benefit concerts or other activities so I have come up with another way for us to help. For St. Patrick's Day I have designed cupcake toppers that you can purchase, and the money from this will go toward Hunters medical bills. I love these little tags because they can be used for so many different things: cupcakes, party favors, cards, scrapbook/memory albums, etc, the list goes on.

Just go to my Donations tab, choose which set of tags you want, enter your donation amount then checkout. You will be emailed the tags as an instant download. Come back to check out the Easter tags that will be available for Hunters fight.

Sandy Hook Elementary Fundraiser

A couple weeks ago my daughter & I were in Utah visiting family for the holiday season & giving Paul some time at the end of the semester to focus on school. December 14th Paul called me to tell me about a shooting in Connecticut. My heart sank as I was glued to the news, as I am sure many of you were, watching the details unfold. Since my daughter was born, I have been even more sensitive to those moms and families who suffer through tragedies that involve their children.

The following morning I received the news that my grandmother had passed away during the night. This was very sudden and shocking to our family since it was so unexpected. Grandma went to college and fulfilled her dream of becoming an elementary teacher and taught for 36 years. My cousin, sister and I used to go in the weeks before school started and help her get the class room set up and ready for the kids.

Now that we are back home in Connecticut I would like to try and do something to help those who were affected by the tragedy in Newtown. I have decided to sale some of my handmade baby items and donate the proceeds in my grandmothers name. Check out the images of these items on my facebook page. The first person to comment with their PayPal e-mail address will be sent an invoice and items will ship within three days of payment.

Please share this post with others so we can help the community of Newtown as much as possible.

HOPE Festival

This year at the HOPE Festival I took a number of custom orders. My big hit this year were the Down Town Head Wraps. Here are a couple of the custom orders. I also had a lady order a beanie for here grand-daughter. I love how they all turned out. Let me know what you think.

These fun wraps are what I'm making for Christmas gifts this year.
They'll go perfect with the scarves from last year.

This is a fun new beanie a just started making and they were a great hit as well.

H.O.P.E. Festival Fundraiser

On Wednesday I was able to participate in the first annual H.O.P.E. festival . It was a fundraiser for CAPSA and 25% of whatever the vendors sold was donated. My friend and I set up a little booth with some of the different projects we have done over the summer.

I learned how to crochet once, a long time ago (just very simple stuff), and over the summer I decided to take it back up. There were a couple of beanie styles that I really liked, so I took bits and pieces of them and made my own. They were a hit at the Festival - I could not be more excited.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to support me and a wonderful cause to help raise money for CAPSA. There are a few items left and over the weekend I will be putting them online - AlwaysBeCreating.Etsy.com. If there are certain colors that you want let me know and would be happy to make you a beanie/scarf.
